Subject: lap marks or 'burn lines' in color wash

hi you guys! I did a color wash on my walls and they have a lots of lap marks. how can correct these? I want to put another glaze color over it, for a subtle effect how many shades should there be between the first and second glaze? appreciate your input and help. thanks for now. by the way what’s a french wash?
