Hand-painted Delft tiles

The loose un-even quality of this faux technique makes painted Delft tiles an ideal decorative effect for the beginner or inexperienced do-it-yourselfer.

Irregular lines and hand painted renderings add character and old world charm, easily achieved without any prior painting experience.

 Essential mural tips and techniques

If I paint a mural, then move in the future, should I paint the mural on canvas instead of directly on the wall?

If you want to take it with you then painting on canvas is your best bet. You can use acrylic paint and paint on canvas, or any cotton or tightly woven linen. Primed canvas will work best. You can attach it directly to the wall using glue called Jade glue, or wall paper paste. You may have problems removing it after some years. You can also hang it by pleating the bottom and adding some weight, like metal washers, or a wooden dowel, to keep it taught and straight. It will hang unattached, and you will be able to take it with you.
