Velur Glaze is a silicone/mineral-based glaze, formulated to enhance the beauty and longevity of mineral-based surfaces. Designed for both interior and exterior use, this versatile glaze is water-dilutable and interacts seamlessly with textured surfaces such as stucco and mineral plasters, creating natural transitions of color and depth.
Ideal for artisans, decorative painters, and designers, Velur offers excellent control over saturation and opacity, allowing delicate tonal variations and seamless blending. Applied with a brush or specialty faux finishing tools, Velur glaze absorbs into texture like a stain—maintaining a breathable, long-lasting finish that won’t crack, peel, or form an unwanted film.
Spread rate: Velur glaze can be diluted up to 500% with water. Spread rates vary depending on dilution and final opacity desired.

TIPS
Testing and thinning your glaze. The amount of glaze you mix up depends on the intensity or opacity of color your desire and size of the area you are working on. Velur glaze is very concentrated and can be diluted up to 500% with water. Test an area to determine how strong or opaque you want the final glazed finish to be.
Work from the top down. When glazing, experience tells us it easier to work from the top of the wall to the bottom. If you start at the bottom and work upward, any drips or spills occurring can damage already treated lower portion finish.
Working over stucco or mineral based surfaces. It may be helpful to wet the surface to be glazed with water first to allow your pre-tinted Velur glaze to move freely over the surface. Applying glaze directly to dry stucco or mineral based surfaces may 'stain' the area and not allow the glaze to move evenly.

This decorative effect creates the appearance of floating color. Soft and watery, or bold and striking. The color density varies over the surface and creates appearances from parchment to the softness of an evening sky or the deepness of watery depths. A subtle finish, with little texture, it is an ideal effect to create mood in a room, background ambience. When using earth tones the color wash can have a slightly aged appearance and is ideal for irregular wall surfaces.

Stucco Rustico is a Traditional interior and exterior textured plaster that epitomizes the rustic old world charm commonly associated with Tuscan environments. I love this treatment for its ease of application and the natural, organic glazed appearance that results when using mineral based plasters and glazes. Whether a rough application or a smooth finish, this treatment holds true to the test of time and, in fact, feels as if time itself stopped to wash the walls personally.

There are many methods of antiquing, but I found that by mastering these few simple steps I’ve been able to successfully handle the antiquing of untold objects, furniture, mural paintings and wall surface finishing.
