Non-toxic Mica Powder
Mica is a fine powder made from natural stone mineral. Ground to powder from this natural stone, mica has a shiney, sparkly effect like very fine glitter. Mica powders are used to create a metallic or shimmery pearl-like effects. Available in many colors, mica powder can be intermixed to create a variety of color tones.
Mica Powder. - Perfect for artists and craftsmen alike, these powders have many uses and mix with clear vehicles ranging from acrylic and oil based mediums to shellac. You control the pigment content - use very little for a translucent veil of metallic or use more for a solid metal look. Intermix colors to create your own mica palette. Ideal for 'Flash Gilding', where you apply the mica directly over size that is at perfect tack.
Coverage: Square footage for 'flash gilding' – which is achieved by dusting the mica powder onto the tacky size using a brush. The mica sits on top (not mixed in with anything) and is known as 'Flash Gilding". This application method will have the following coverage - 500g covers 175sf - 1 kilo covers 350sf - 5kilo covers 1750sf.
