Schaibin (also spelled Schabin) is a decorative metal leaf product made from irregular flakes or fragments of metal leaf, including Imitation Gold, Imitation Silver and Copper leaf. Unlike traditional metal leaf sheets, Schaibin consists of larger, uneven pieces—typically ranging from 4 to 6 inches—created by shredding or cutting leaf into random, organic shapes.
This material is commonly used in gilding, decorative finishes, and artistic applications to create a textured, metallic effect. The irregular shapes of Schaibin leaf add a unique, reflective quality that can enhance surfaces with a dynamic, mosaic-like appearance. It's ideal for accenting furniture, frames, walls, and sculptures, and is often used in antique restoration or to achieve a distressed, vintage look.
